Fabrication and Installation of Custom Beam Caps

Inspected beams will often reveal no signs of decay and will require no repair. Even so, "beam caps" are recommended as a preventative measure against the moisture penetration that can lead to dry rot. A beam cap is a galvanized sheet metal cover that is custom made and installed atop a roof beam. The caps are designed and configured so as to shed rainwater away from the vulnerable tops of roof beams. Each cap is primed and painted (three coats total), and is sealed to the adjacent roof framing to protect against wind driven rain.
